Navratri means a sundal every day and this Sweet Corn Sundal is just one of the many I make. The hint of sweetness from the corn, spiciness from the red chillies and the nuttiness from the coconut make it a true delight. As a bonus, unlike other sundal varieties, you need not pre-soak the corn for hours, so this is an instant Sundal recipe.

I am now posting the recipe for Sweet Corn Sundal. Called Mokkajonna Guggillu in Telugu, this is a wonderful variation of the traditional recipes.
How to Make Sweet Corn Sundal | Mokkajonna Guggillu
- Preparing the Corn
- Boil 4 cups of water with 1/2 tsp salt.
- Add 2 Cups Sweet Corn kernels to the boiling water.
- Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Turn off the heat.
- Cover and set aside for 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, drain all the water from the boiled sweet corn.
- Making Sweet Corn Sundal | Mokkajonna Guggillu
- Heat 1 tsp oil.
- Add the 1/2 tsp mustard seeds and wait till they splutter.
- Add the 1 tsp udad dal and stir-fry till golden brown.
- Add 2-3 split red chillies and a few curry leaves, and stir-fry for a few seconds.
- Turn off the heat.
- Add a pinch of hing and mix well.
- Add the boiled sweet corn, grated coconut and some salt; and mix well.

Sweet Corn Sundal | Mokkajonna Guggillu: Navratri Recipe
Sweet Corn Sundal, called Mokkajonna Guggillu in Telugu, is a delicious and filling snack. It is also an instant Sundal for Navratri because the corn does not need to be soaked.Sweet Corn Sundal is slightly sweet from the corn and has a hint of spiciness from the chilli.
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Sweet Corn Kernels
- 1/2 cup Grated Coconut
For the Tempering
- 1 tsp Udad Dal
- 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 2-3 Red Chillies
- 4-6 Curry Leaves
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1 Pinch Asafoetida or Hing
Other Ingredients
- 4 Cups Water
- Salt to Taste
Instructions
