This Vrat ki Kadhi or Farali Kadhi is an easy to make dish for Navratri and Ekadashi fasts. Made with dahi and rajgira atta, this kadhi is nutritious, cooling and filling.
Kadhi is a category of yogurt-based Indian dishes that are popular across the country. Every state or region in India has one or more variations, made with or without vegetables.
Vrat ki Kadhi is special because it is made to meet the dietary restrictions followed on days of fasting during Navratri and Ekadashi. On these days, the people who fast do not eat any grains and use a very limited set of ingredients for flavouring. In most communities, only ghee (and no oil) is also used for frying and tempering. Similarly, the regular sea salt is replaced with Sendha Namak or Rock Salt.
Also called Farali Kadhi or Rajgira Kadhi, this dish can be paired with cooked Sama | Little Millet | Varai (Bhagar) or with Rajgira Puri to make for a complete meal.
